About this site

This site is an archive of my work to date on surveillance technologies, tech histories and futures, and queer/trans liberation. It's an attempt to record ideas, poems, thinking, research, and theories, and connect with others who are also obsessed with these topics.

A bit about me

I'm Dhaksh, a queer and genderfluid Tamil person born in Illankai (known as Sri Lanka). I live and work between Wurundjeri country (Kulin Nation), Gadigal (Eora Nation) country and Chennai (Tamil Nadu). I love tattoos and colour coordinated fits. One of my favourite past times is hosting non-white queer/trans dating events called Ravenous. To me, queer/trans sex/love/romance is revolutionary. For work, I am a scholar-activist focused on tech surveillance and disinformation.

I find it challenging to fit into institutional spaces (and have been known to rage quit frequently). Therefore, the idea of building just worlds and futures fascinates me. Questions I find myself thinking about often are:

  • what does anti-surveillance tech look like? can tech help us feel seen, heard, and bring us back to ourselves?
  • how do we imagine and create tech futures (and histories) that cultivate collective care (for ourselves, lands, and waters), rest, reflection, joy, healing, grieving, creativity, and beauty?
  • what ways of knowing and being will lead us there? what governance shifts need to happen to elevate First Nations, Black, Dalit, Adivasi, queer, trans and subaltern peoples? how does Tamil liberation fit into this?
